Health Careers NW is a research grant funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. They are conducting a study to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs. This requires every person eligible for Health Careers NW to be selected through a lottery system.
  • Health Careers NW is a WorkSource Portland Metro program made possible by a five year Health Profession Opportunity (HPOG) Grant. Authorized by the Affordable Care Act, the Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) program provides education and training to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Medicaid recipients for occupations in the health care field that pay well and are expected to be in high demand.

    How do we help?

Health Careers NW supports career growth and progress in seven healthcare fields by offering one-on-one career coaching, career exploration in the healthcare fields, training that results in an employer- or industry-recognized credential as well as job search and placement assistance. The result: you launch, or take a next step, in a fulfilling healthcare career.

    Are you eligible?

To be eligible for Health Careers NW you must be:

    • 18 years of age or older
    • Receiving TANF, SNAP, or Medicaid on the day of program enrollment
    • Legal to work in the United States
    • Be free from any criminal background that would prevent you from working in the healthcare field.
